This policy explains what personal data Competitors (competitors.io) collects, why we collect it and what rights you have. We collect as little as we need to run the service.

1. Who is responsible

2. What we collect

  • Account data: your work email address, the confirmation code we send (stored only in hashed form) and the time you confirmed it.
  • Signup context: which button or plan you chose, the page you came from and campaign parameters in the link, if any.
  • Technical data: IP address and browser type, used to protect signups and the demo from abuse.
  • Account content: the competitors, pages, keywords and alert rules you add, and the digests we send you.
  • Billing data for paid plans: handled by our payment provider; we receive only the details needed for invoices and do not store full card numbers.

3. What we do not collect

We do not use advertising trackers on this site. We do not collect personal data about the people who work at the companies you monitor; the service watches public business information such as prices, pages, ads and review ratings.

4. Why we use your data

  • To create and secure your account and confirm your email address.
  • To provide the service: run checks, send alerts and the Monday digest.
  • To send you essential messages about your account, billing and changes to the service.
  • To protect the service against spam and abuse, for example rate limits on signups and the demo.

We process your data to perform our contract with you, to meet legal obligations such as keeping billing records, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. Where the law requires consent, we ask for it.

6. Who we share it with

We use service providers for hosting, email delivery and payments. They process data only on our instructions. We never sell your data and never share your list of competitors with anyone.

7. How long we keep it

Unconfirmed signups are deleted after 30 days. Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted after the account is closed, except billing records we must keep by law. Demo checks are kept in a short-lived cache and are not linked to you.

8. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to its use or ask us to restrict it, and ask for your data in a portable format. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to run the site and keep your session secure. We do not use advertising cookies.

10. Security

Data is transferred over encrypted connections and access is limited to the people who need it to run the service. Read more on security.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If the changes are material, we will email account owners before they take effect.
