What competitor review tracking covers
Competitors checks each competitor's public profiles on four review sites and records every new review and every change in the headline numbers.
- G2 profiles, including category and product listings
- Capterra profiles
- Trustpilot company pages
- Google business reviews
- Average rating and total review count per site
- New reviews with the star rating, the date and the full text
- Replies from the competitor to its reviews
Reviews are the one signal your competitors do not write themselves. Their pricing page says what they want buyers to believe. Their reviews say what buyers actually experienced, which is where your sales team finds its best questions.
How review monitoring works
When you add a competitor by domain, Competitors looks for its profiles on each review site and lists what it found. You confirm the right profiles, add any it missed and choose which sites to follow.
After that, each check compares the current profile with the last snapshot. A new review becomes a "new review" change. A move in the average rating becomes a "rating change" with the old and new value. A sudden jump in review count, often the sign of a review campaign, is flagged on its own.
Reviews are grouped by theme in the digest, based on the words that repeat across them: support, onboarding, pricing, integrations, reliability. When three new reviews of one rival mention slow support in the same week, you read that as one line, not as three separate alerts.
Review monitoring sits in the same feed as competitor price monitoring and competitor ad tracking, so a wave of complaints about a price increase appears right next to the price increase itself.

Who needs competitor review tracking
- Product marketing, to find the weaknesses buyers name in their own words and turn them into positioning. See competitor battlecard software.
- Sales, to hear objections a rival's customers raise before a prospect raises them in a call.
- Customer success, to spot switching risk in a competitor's base when its reviews turn negative.
- SaaS founders, for whom G2 and Capterra are part of how buyers shortlist. See competitor monitoring for SaaS.
Review alerts and the weekly digest
The Monday digest shows, per competitor, the rating on each site, the number of new reviews and a one-line summary of what they say, with links to the reviews themselves.
- Alert when a competitor's average rating drops by 0.1 or more on any site
- Alert on any new 1-star or 2-star review
- Alert when review count grows faster than usual
- Alert when a new review mentions your brand
Alerts go by email on every plan with review monitoring, and to Slack on Growth and above. Every review stays in history, so you can see how a rival's rating moved over the last year.
Review monitoring is on Growth and above
Review monitoring and ad tracking are part of Growth, Scale and Enterprise.
Starter ($99 per month) covers prices and website changes. See all plans of the competitor monitoring software.
Competitor review monitoring questions
Which review sites are covered?
G2, Capterra, Trustpilot and Google business reviews. App stores and marketplaces are available as custom sources on Enterprise.
Do you store the full text of each review?
Yes, the public text as it appears on the site, with rating, date and any reply. It stays in your history for as long as your plan keeps history.
Can I monitor my own reviews too?
Yes. Add your own domain as a tracked competitor and your reviews appear in the same digest, side by side with your rivals.
What if a competitor has several product listings?
Add each listing you care about to that competitor. They all count as one tracked competitor.
Does it write or post reviews?
No. Competitors only reads public review pages. It never posts, replies or contacts reviewers.
