Competitive price intelligence for pricing teams
A single competitor price tells you little. The history of every competitor's prices, plans and discounts tells you how the market prices, how often it moves and where you sit in it. Competitors builds that history for pricing teams, one dated observation at a time.

From price alerts to price intelligence
Price alerts answer "what changed today". Pricing teams need more: how prices moved across the whole competitive set, how packaging evolved, and whether a move by one rival is followed by others. Competitive price intelligence is what you get when every observation is kept, dated and comparable.
- Every tracked price is stored with currency, billing period and the plan or product it belongs to.
- Every change is classified: increase, decrease, new plan, removed plan, changed limit, changed discount.
- Every version of the pricing page is kept, so the context of a price (what it included) is never lost.
For day-to-day alerts on specific pages, see competitor price monitoring.
Build a price index against your competitive set
A price index compares your price with the market's for an equivalent offer. With Competitors, the inputs are already collected: each competitor's price for each comparable plan or product, dated. On Scale you can take them out by CSV export or API and calculate your index in the spreadsheet or BI tool your pricing team already uses.

| Offer | Your price | north-desk.example | helpflow.example | ticketry.example | Market average | Your index |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry plan, per seat | $15 | $12 | $19 | $15 | $15.33 | 98 |
| Mid plan, per seat | $39 | $35 | $49 | $45 | $43.00 | 91 |
| Top plan, per seat | $79 | $69 | $99 | Contact us | $84.00 | 94 |
An index below 100 means you are priced under the market average for that offer. When a competitor changes a price, the next export shows how your position moved, and the alert tells you the same day.
Price history across the competitive set
History is where competitive price intelligence pays off. Questions pricing teams answer from it:
- How often does each competitor change list prices, and in which months?
- Did a price increase stick, or was it reversed after a few weeks?
- When a competitor added a tier, which features moved up to fill it?
- Are annual discounts getting deeper across the market, a sign of pressure on retention?
- Which rivals follow a market leader's price moves, and how quickly?

History is kept 12 months on Starter, 24 months on Growth and without limit on Scale. For a price intelligence program, unlimited history matters: yearly patterns only show in the second year.
Packaging, not only price
Price moves often come disguised as packaging changes: a limit that drops from 10 to 5 projects, a feature that moves up a tier, a seat minimum that appears on the top plan. Competitors reads plan lists and limits on pricing pages, so these changes are reported next to the numbers. Where the change is in wording rather than numbers, website change monitoring shows the exact before and after.
Built into the pricing team's workflow
- Custom alert rules on Growth and above: for example, alert only on price changes over 5 percent for your five closest rivals.
- Slack alerts to a pricing channel so finance, sales and product see the same move.
- CSV export, API and webhooks on Scale feed your models and dashboards.
- Enterprise adds custom sources such as marketplaces and regional sites for price comparisons across countries.
Leadership approval and security questions are covered on competitive intelligence software.

Competitive price intelligence FAQ
Does Competitors calculate the price index for me?
Competitors collects and classifies the competitor prices, with history. On Scale you export them by CSV or API and calculate the index with your own definitions of equivalent offers, which only your team can set.
Can I compare prices across currencies?
Each price is stored in the currency shown on the page. Conversion for an index is done in your own model, with the exchange rates your finance team uses.
How do I handle competitors that do not publish prices?
Plans with "Contact us" are recorded as having no public price. If a public price appears, or disappears, that is reported as a change.
Can I track regional price differences?
Yes, by tracking each regional page as its own page. Enterprise adds custom sources for regional sites and marketplaces.
How quickly will we see a price change?
Within a day on Starter, within 6 hours on Growth and within an hour on Scale, with an alert the moment it is detected.
