Competitive intelligence software you can justify to finance and security
Buying competitive intelligence software means answering three questions for three different people: what it returns (finance), what it touches (security) and how fast it is in use (the team). This page answers all three for Competitors, so you can take one document into the approval process.

Working out the return on competitive intelligence software
The cost of not having it is already in your budget, spread across people. Someone opens competitor pricing pages before a planning meeting. Someone screenshots a homepage for a sales deck. Someone finds out about a rival's new plan from a prospect. You can estimate that cost with your own numbers rather than ours.
- Count the people who check competitors today, and the hours each spends in a normal week.
- Multiply by a loaded hourly cost for those roles.
- Add the deals where a competitor move surprised your team, and what a late response cost.
- Compare the total with the plan that covers your number of competitors.
The comparison is easier because Competitors is priced per tracked competitor, not per reader. Adding a sales rep to the digest does not add cost; adding a new rival to the market you watch does. Budget follows the size of your competitive set, which is a number you already know.
What the software touches, and what it does not
Competitors reads public pages. It does not connect to your CRM, email or file storage unless you choose to use the API or webhooks on Scale, and then only in the direction you configure.

| Question from security | Answer |
|---|---|
| What data leaves our company? | Your list of competitors, tracked pages, keywords, alert rules and user accounts |
| What does the product fetch? | Public web pages, public ad libraries, public review sites and search results |
| Is our competitor list shared? | No. It belongs to you and is never shared or sold |
| Single sign-on | SSO (SAML) on Enterprise |
| Access control | Roles and permissions on Enterprise |
| Accountability | Audit log on Enterprise |
| Contracts | Security review and DPA on Enterprise |
Detail on hosting, data handling and responsible fetching is on the competitor monitoring security page.
A rollout that fits in a month
Competitive intelligence software fails when it takes a quarter to set up and nobody owns it afterwards. Competitors starts from a domain, so the first useful output arrives in the first week.

| Week | What happens | Owner |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Add competitors by domain, confirm discovered pages, switch on signals | Product marketing or marketing lead |
| 1 | First baseline snapshots of every tracked page | Automatic |
| 2 | First Monday digest; tune alert rules to cut anything the team ignores | Program owner |
| 3 | Connect Slack channels, share digest links with sales and leadership | Program owner |
| 4 | Scale: review competitor cards with sales; connect API or webhooks if needed | Product marketing, operations |
By the end of the month the team has a weekly habit, an alert route for urgent moves and a history that grows without further work. How each step works in the product is on how it works.
What each team gets once it is live
- Sales: instant alerts on competitor price changes and new offers, current competitor cards on Scale.
- Product: changelog and feature page changes, with the date each appeared.
- Marketing: new ads from public libraries, landing page changes and keyword positions, covered in competitor ad tracking.
- Leadership: a weekly brief by shareable link and a history for quarterly reviews.
If your team is still defining what intelligence it needs, competitive intelligence tools covers the workflow for product marketing and leadership.
Procurement, contracts and plans
Monthly plans can be bought by card and cancelled any time. Yearly billing saves 50 percent. Enterprise adds invoicing and annual contracts for procurement teams.
There is no free plan. Your evaluators can use the demo to snapshot a competitor page and compare two versions before a purchase decision.
Competitive intelligence software FAQ
Can we run a security review before signing?
Yes, on Enterprise. We complete security questionnaires, provide a DPA and answer questions from your security team before the contract. Write to [email protected] to start.
Do you store personal data about competitors' employees?
Competitors tracks company pages, ads, reviews and rankings. Public reviews can contain a reviewer's display name as published on the review site; the product uses reviews to track ratings and themes about the competitor.
Can we pay by invoice?
Invoicing and annual contracts are part of Enterprise. Starter, Growth and Scale are paid monthly or yearly by card.
What happens if we outgrow a plan?
Move up at any time from your account. New limits apply straight away and billing is adjusted for the rest of the period. Moving down works the same way.
How long is our history kept if we cancel?
Your plan stays active until the end of the paid period. Export anything you need before then; CSV export is available on Scale.
